The main exhibition here was the RPS Yorkshire Print Exhibition.
Images were all framed in narrow black frames on white mounts. All had a caption underneath which automatically gives information to the viewer thereby reducing the abilty to make up his/her own mind as to what the picture is about. When I have my own end of course show next March I am almost certainly going to display without captions. Having said that some of the images definitely appealed to me such as one of the Braham cross country horse trials which was made for me by the two spectators in the background. I found David Hartley's Frosty Sunrise Path interesting. It featured a green lane with great perspective. The viewer can see a long way down this straight track and would have fitted into my body of work. I was reminded by Trevor Shelley's Heather moss and Pine of Rob and Harriet Fraser's The Long View. I enjoyed the monochrome work of some exhibits. I have become used to thinking of my work as a series of images rather than one off photographs and find that I increasly enjoy viewing work this way.
Hull Music Photographers were as it says on the tin. There were some interesting event images. All were mounted on white in large white frames.
Sing Sing for Everything by Richard Duffy are colour and black and white images of music gigs taken at events organised by this local photographer and his wife. The photographs were mounted on foam board, something I am keen to experiment with.
